As part of Brisbane Leather Week, six individuals will step up to compete for the Queensland Leather titles. Who will be the next Queensland Kinkster, Ms Queensland Leather, Queensland Leather Boy and Mr Queensland Leather?

The competition rounds started on Wednesday night at Kinky Bingo, where the focus was Stage Presence and Charisma,

Tonight at the Leather Dinner, they will be judged on a speech, their attire and their interactions. It all ends Friday night at the Grand Final Performance round, the most anticipated event of Brisbane Leather Week.

“This community is where I was able to grow into my own skin. It helped me to step out of the societal norms I was brought up with. They opened doors for me and showed me the possibilities of a life I could’ve never dreamed of. I am forever grateful and very excited to continue my lifelong journey of learning”

What made you want to enter the competition?

“I’ve always enjoyed hosting events and gathering my community. A big part of that was making sure people felt safe and included in our community regardless of their identity. I really wanted a title to be able to platform the voices of my colleagues, as well as demonstrate that non-binary people don’t have to feel railroaded into ungendered titles.”

What was the first piece of fetish or kink gear you owned?

“I think it was a leather collar given to me by my first dominant for our anniversary. The O-ring of which now lives on my battle jacket.”

What does this community mean to you?

“I love the way everyone kind of has their role; it’s such a diverse group of people who aren’t just here to play (which is also amazing!) but are our historians, our storytellers, our protectors and everything in between. It feels almost like one big found family that’s always had a space for me with loving arms.”

“I believe it was a cheap pair of metal handcuffs. The fuzzy cover was removed almost instantly & they were eventually replaced with nicer padded cuffs, but I remember them fondly.”

What does this community mean to you?

“Everything. Within this community, I have found not only some of my best friends, but people I truly love that magically (and kinkily) love me back.”

What does this community mean to you?

“We are all so different but have such a shared passion for the weird and wonderful. It’s amazing to hear people’s stories from all walks of life.
