Writer Turned Away From Adopting Cats Because He’s Gay

We’ve all heard our fair share of catty remarks – and this is a purrfect example.

When Greek writer/actor Alex Andreou attempted to adopt two cats which “desperately needed re-homing” he was turned away – because he is gay.

After driving for two hours to pick up the felines and give them a loving home, the pets’ owner refused to hand them over because of her religious objections to his “lifestyle”.

“So, I just travelled two hours to adopt a cat that desperately needed re-homing and was turned down for being gay. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE,” Alex wrote on Twitter.

According to a text exchange, he was asked: “how comes youre (sic) single, are you gay?”

Alex responded: “Good guess”, to which the woman says: “People normally mention grown up kids and so on that’s why I thought you maybe (sic) gay”.

When he asks “Is it an issue?” she responded: “I am religious so I strongly disagree with the life style. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings.”

Alex responded: “Darling, I’ve been beaten and called a faggot since I was 8. My feelings are quite robust. And, yes, sorry is precisely what you are.”

The conversation apparently ends when she asks him: “Are you not afraid of going to hell when you die?”

Thankfully, there are always more than one way to skin a cat and it seems the story had a happy ending.

Alex later shared an update, saying he was getting the cat as a friend of his who lived near the woman was going to go and pick up the cats.

He wrote: “An amazing friend who lives locally to that evil cow is picking up the cats for me on Thursday. I am so happy.

“I may then have to festoon the cats in Rainbow Flags and send her photos. Is there a co that makes pink litter? Pride cat bowls? I NEED GEAR.”
