A new Miss Sportsman Hotel for 2018 will be crowned in the venue’s popular drag pageant on Saturday night.
This year’s Miss Sporties contest will have a European flavour with a Eurovision Song Contest theme as the queens battle it out for the coveted Miss Sporties crown and sash on Saturday, November 3.
Hosted by Wanda D’Parke and featuring a special performance by Miss Sportsman Hotel 2017 winner Chocolate Boxx, the evening begins at 10pm and promises to be a fantastic night out as the contestants are put through their paces in three gruelling rounds.
This year’s Miss Sportsman will win $1000 cash, a special sash and hair package; while the runner up will score $500 and a costuming package.
The performer selected as the People’s Choice on the night will win a sash and gift voucher.
Sportsman Hotel Drag Hall of Famers Dame Liz Taylor and Trixie Onassis III will head the judging panel for the event, with Taylor Ette, Mandy Moobs, Liam Clark and Gavin Anthony.
Last year, Queensland drag star Chocolate Boxx (pictured) took home the title of Miss Sporties 2017, which had a distinctly Australian flavour with the theme “Stars of the Southern Cross”.
Aurora Arsenic was named runner-up, winning the Miss Rising Star award.
Miss Sportsman Hotel is the drag counterpart to the venue’s annual Mr Sportsman Hotel competition, which earlier this year saw Brisbane Hustlers rugby player Allen Park take home the title at the sexy “College Jocks”-themed contest.
Meanwhile, drag performer Lasey Dunaman was recently crowned the next Miss First Nation at the Sydney drag pageant described as the “Olympics for Indigenous drag queens”.
The Miss First Nation competition was started in Darwin last year and was filmed for the documentary “Black Divaz”.
