Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia is working closely with tourism operators in the Whitsundays.
Need a break?
Then you need look no further than the sunny climes and beautiful beaches of the Whitsundays.
Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia (GALTA) members and directors travelled from all parts of Australia to attend its annual general meeting in Airlie Beach this month.
While there they met with Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited representatives who took the opportunity to promote the region.
GALTA president Rod Stringer said he was pleased the two organisations would work more closely in the future.
“It has been estimated that gay and lesbian travellers with their high disposable income spend an estimated $20 billion annually on travel and related items,” he said.
“We look forward to working with the Whitsundays’ tourism operators to promote their wonderful attractions through our association and our worldwide connections.”
Meanwhile, other northern regions are already cashing in on the gay and lesbian market with The Northern Territory hosting the OUT Games recently and actively marketing to LGBT people around the world.
There are many other destinations that partner with GALTA Australia wide, including Southern Queensland Country Tourism, Sunshine Coast, Tasmania, Tourism Fraser Coast and Tourism Noosa.
