Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia(GALTA) is working closely with tourism operators in the Whitsundays.
Need a break?
Then you need to look no further than the sunny climes and beautiful beaches of the Whitsundays.
GALTA members and directors travelled from all over Australia to attend its annual general meeting in Airlie Beach this month.
While there they met with Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited representatives who took the opportunity to promote the region.
GALTA president Rod Stringer pleased the two organisations would work more closely in the future.
“The gay and lesbian travellers with high disposable income spend approximately $20 billion annually on travel,” he said.
“We look forward to working with the Whitsundays’ tourism operators to promote their wonderful attractions through our association and our worldwide connections.”
Meanwhile, other northern regions are already cashing in on the gay and lesbian market with The Northern Territory hosting the OUT Games recently and actively marketing to LGBT people around the world.
There are many other destinations that partner with GALTA Australia wide.
This including Southern Queensland Country Tourism, Sunshine Coast, Tasmania, Tourism Fraser Coast and Tourism Noosa.
