The ‘God Hates Fags’ Westboro Baptist Church recently released a parody of Neil Diamond’s ‘Kentucky Woman’. Their song focuses on anti-same-sex marriage clerk Kim Davis.
Despite what you may at first think, the church is no ally of Davis.
Although certainly no friend to the LGBTIQ communities, it seems they hold Davis in the same contempt.
We all love a good musical rivalry. After Axel Rose vs Slash, Taylor Swift vs Katy Perry, Tupac vs the Notorious B.I.G, now we have… Kim Davis vs The Westboro Baptist Church.
In fact, the church hates Kim Davis so much, they want to sing it out for the world to hear!
Normally content with picketing funerals, this time around the church decided on a more creative approach.
Why do ‘God Hates Fags’ hate Kim Davis?
Their parody attacks Davis over her infidelity and multiple divorces.
Davis, who earned the ire of countless people around the world for refusing to comply with a US Supreme Court ruling legalising same-sex marriage, though now married, has been divorced three times.
With lead vocals by Shirley Phelps-Roper (daughter of church founder Fred Phelps), the churches song includes the lyrics: “Kentucky woman/She caused fag marriage/Now fags own her/Kentucky woman!”, and “full of adulteries, constantly changing her name/ But she’s still proud, and that’s why the Christians are blamed/ And God hates her; she knows God hates her.”
Before releasing the song, the Westboro Baptist Church also picketed Davis’ workplace with church accusing her of being a hypocrite via Twitter.
“Christianity is not a smorgasbord religion – you don’t pick what you like & leave the rest.”
“Singing to Kim Davis in KY cuz she refused to give fags marriage licenses but gave herself FOUR?! Both are sins!”.
The Modern Fundamentalist
Because the song infringes Neil Diamond’s copyright we can’t post it here. However those desperate may visit Westboro Baptist Church’s website and find it there.
Meanwhile, enjoy another Davis parody, ‘The Modern Fundamentalist’.
