Three of Sir Elton John’s classic songs are proud owners of official music videos after more than 40 years. Elton John released Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, and Bennie and the Jets in 1971, 1972 and 1973 respectively.

Therefore all three hits predate MTV and the advent of the modern music video.
Last December, to mark Elton’s 50-year songwriting partnership with musician Bernie Taupin, the pair teamed up with YouTube for ‘The Cut’ project, giving emerging filmmakers the chance to create videos for the three songs.
Two musicians from a shortlist of submissions from more than 50 countries selected all three clips. The videos then premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
Elton John sounded very pleased by it all.
“I’ve been moved and amazed by these reimaginings of our songs and pretty humbled by the process overall.
“The future of creativity is clearly collaborative, fusing art and technology and it’s been fantastic to open up our work to the next generation of creative talent and to share that process with the world.”

Elton John’s first hit came with Your Song on his second album in 1970.
His biggest hit Candle in the Wind 1997, a tribute to Princess Diana, sold over 33 million copies. It, therefore, became the top-selling single in the history of both UK and US singles charts.
He originally wrote the song as a tribute to Hollywood movie star, Marilyn Monroe.
