Yes, you read that right, Fire Island is a new modern, gay adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
It’s an interesting concept to approach, but it’s certainly got people talking.
The trailer has dropped this week to much chatter online.
Fire Island is long known as part of the iconic party scene in New York.
So it’s no surprise to have a film set in this iconic location and the premise is relatively simple.
Two best friends are headed for a week long trip to Fire Island, accompanied by cheap rosé and a small group of eclectic friends.
Of course the week long trip will be filled with booze, debauchery.
Plus and all the hallmarks of a rom-com, love and fairy tale romance.
But Fire Island also looks to be rich with heart and and diversity at its core.
A diverse and talented cast, with plenty of cameos
In the latest trailer for Fire Island the cast immediately catch your eye.
Of course the film is rife with chiseled abs and speedos, but the diversity of the cast the first catches the eye.
For what could have been a very white washed film, it appears to be anything but.
Conrad Ricamora who is most known for his role as Oliver in How To Get Away With Murder helps lead this stellar cast.
Ricamora will play a Mr Darcy-inspired love interest in the film.
He’s supported by the likes of Joel Kim Booster (The Other Two), Bowen Yang (Isn’t It Romantic) and Matt Rogers (I love That For You).
Joel Kim Booster will play Noah, inspired by the classic Elizabeth Bennet style character while Bowen Yang will play Howie, swept off his feet by a handsome doctor.
They are also joined with fabulous cameos throughout the film.
As does the one and only Margaret Cho.
Fire Island looks to be as heartwarming as it is dramatic and well worth the watch.
It is set to Debut on June 3rd.
