WA One Nation candidate Parminder Singh described gay people as having a mental illness, said he didn’t want gay marriage to remain legalised, and that pride parades were advertising to children in a bizarre interview with content creator Mr Sikkant.
The candidate made the random statements in an interview with popular Perth comedian and street interviewer Jasky Singh, aka Mr Sikkant.
Parminder Singh, who is the number three on One Nation WA’s Legislative Council ticket, volunteered his thoughts on the gay and lesbian community.
In the interview, he says that:
- Pride parades advertise homosexuality to young people,
- that gay people were mentally ill,
- he claimed that women who go into relationships with other women don’t go back to men because they think men are “using them”,
- that animals are smarter than humans because they don’t want gay sex
- and that he didn’t want same sex marriage to be legal.

Singh claims animals are smarter than humans because they are not gay
In the interview, he claimed that god put people on Earth to create the “next generation” and that animals were smarter than humans because they were “not gay”.
“Have you seen the male animal with the male animal? Female animal with the female animal?” he said. “So we are worse than the animals. Animal don’t think much but they are better thinker than us.”
He is in for a surprise when he googles that one.
Mr Singh said in the interview that social media was to blame for the LGBT.
“You no need to gay parade in city, you don’t need those type of parades,” Mr Singh said. “I’m a man. Why I advertise, everyone know I am man. If they are gay, they are gay. Why they need to advertise?”
When he made his comment, smirking about a woman being with another woman not returning to men because “they think the man us using them”, it becomes very hard to take what he is saying seriously.
Which is a concern for anyone considering voting for him.

Singh’s profile removed from the One Nation website
Speaking live on social media as well as in the interview, Mr Singh said he didn’t “care” if people were gay, “but not advertise, and not legalise their marriages”.
Mr Singh commented that he liked “the girl who put something on social media that there are three sex [genders]. Male, female and mentally ill.”
“So people are like that too,” he said.
Mr Singh’s profile was still on the One Nation website on Wednesday morning but was removed after the ABC made enquiries about him.
Shadow Treasurer Tim Wilson told the ABC that Mr Singh’s comments show his character.
