The largest collection of Kylie Minogue memorabilia in the southern hemisphere will be on display at Adelaide LGBTQIA+ venue My Lover Cindi as part of South Australia’s History Festival.

Curated by artist Troy-Anthony Baylis, the collection consists of Kylie memorabilia from across her illustrious career.

“I adore Kylie and what she puts out into the world. Collating culture and curating culture are a safe space to carry out my archival tendencies,” Baylis said.

When it came to exhibiting Baylis’ collection, it was only natural that he should pair with local filmmaker, DJ, and Kylie lover Nelya Valamanesh.

To celebrate the occasion, Valamanesh will be DJing a Kylie Minogue-themed dance party at  My Lover Cindi, alongside items from Baylis’ collection.

It will be the first showing of the collection in over a decade.

‘Life is always better with a little Kylie on the playlist’

Kylie Minogue’s luscious vocals and upbeat pop sound has had queer people flocking to dance floors since the eighties,” My Lover Cindi owners Kate Toon and Rachel Hosking said.

“She is a staple in LGBTQ+ venues and continues to make music that gets us into the groove. As a queer-owned and -operated space, we are delighted to work with the History Festival on this iconic event!”

This event is part of South Australia’s History Festival, which has more than 520 events held across the state throughout the entire month of May.

History Trust CEO Greg Mackie OAM said the event was a highlight of this year’s program.

“I can’t wait to hit the disco dance floor and trip down memory lane,” he said.

“Kylie evokes dance parties, club nights and every possible celebration over the last 30 years – life is always better with a little Kylie on the playlist!”
