Aussie pop star Troye Sivan is making his return to acting with a lead role in the new queer coming-of-age drama film Three Months.

In the coming-of-age film Three Months, Sivan plays Caleb, a Florida teenager “who loves his camera, his weed, and his grandmother.”

However on the eve of his high school graduation, just as a new chapter of Caleb’s life begins, the teenager is exposed to HIV during a hookup.

“Florida, 2011. Caleb Kahn gets a text from a hot one night stand that he never thought he’d hear from again,” Troye explains on Instagram.

“He has just tested positive for HIV.

“Caleb remembers; the condom broke. How long until Caleb finds out if he has it too? Three Months.”

While Caleb waits, he finds love “in the most unlikely places.”

The Australian pop star said he and the cast and crew made the new film “against all odds throughout a global pandemic.”

“It’s out on @paramountplus on Feb 23,” he said.

“I care about it a lot. Can’t wait for you to meet Caleb!”

A Paramount+ spokesperson told that in Australia, Three Months will arrive on the local version of the streaming service shortly after the US release, with an Australian release date to be confirmed shortly.

Three Months is written and directed by Jared Frieder and also stars Viveik Kalra, Brianne Tju, Ellen Burstyn, Judy Greer, Javier Munoz, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Amy Landecker.

Troye Sivan has also written two original songs for the new movie.
