Three men have been confirmed dead after a fire broke out in a gay sauna in Berlin.
Firefighters were called to Steam Works late on Sunday evening to find around 25 people on the street, some dressed in only towels and robes.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze quickly and preventing the fire from spreading to an elderly care home on the floor above, a spokesperson for the fire service told The Local.
According to local media authorities confirmed three men died in the blaze, with a fourth man was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
The venue is located in the basement of a 10-storey building in the central Berlin district of Schöneberg.
The Local reported the club consists of a maze of saunas, “play areas” and dozens of individual cabins that proved difficult for firefighters to search.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
