If there’s a haze of colour in the South East Queensland skies this month it’s not the Northern Lights, it’s the hue of more than 124,000 incredible flowers as they bloom in spectacular style to herald the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
The iconic Queensland event, running from September 16 to 25, is 10 days of flowers, flavours and sounds, featuring more than 50 events and experiences including internationally acclaimed musical acts, award winning parks, local guided tours, and food and wine.
The Flower, Food and Wine Festival boasts an impressive musical lineup – singer-songwriter Tim Finn; The Whitlams performing with the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra; Queensland songstress Katie Noonan, as well as Birds of Tokyo, Montaigne, Emma Louise, The Chantoozies, Eurogliders and the Models. Brisbane superstar DJs Mashd N Kutcher will play in Sideshow Alley.
Parks around the city will be curated into sensational Spring flower displays and Australian floral design stars Charlie Albone, Annita Bokobli and Bart Hassam are special guests at the carnival. Annita is the current 2016 Interflora Australia Cup winner, the country’s most prestigious individual floral design award.
The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers 2016 is on from September 16 to 25. To see the full program and to book tickets, visit the official website.
