The organisers of the Sunshine Coast Pride Festival have announced they are postponing this weekend’s Fair Day event.
Revellers were to gather at the Fair Day’s home in Quota Park in Nambour this Saturday (March 30), but the Sunshine Coast Pride Network has said the event won’t go ahead due to a forecast thunderstorm.
“In upholding the safety of our visitors, volunteers, vendors and entertainers, and respecting the traditional land on which the event is being hosted we’re postponing this Saturday’s Family Fun Day,” organiser Marj Blowers said on Facebook.
“This has been a very hard decision, but the safety of everyone comes first and we are grateful for your understanding and ongoing support.
“A new date will be announced soon.”
Rainbow Noosa’s riverside picnic and BBQ, that was to be held in Noosaville on Sunday, has also been postponed due to the bad weather, with a new date to be announced.
But Blowers said local event Pinky’s will still be going ahead at The Waterfront Hotel in Bli Bli from 8pm on Saturday evening, with the $10 entry and money raised from raffle tickets the main fundraiser for the annual festival.
Local drag star Melony Brests will host the night and perform three fabulous shows with Sall Monalla, Holly Wood, Rocky V Liquor, Miss LSD and a guest appearance by Burlesque L’amour.
On Sunday, the special Sunshine Coast Pride party will still be held at Peak Wine Bar in Maroochydore from 6pm until late.
Entry is free, with special guest DJ’s Robert Cameron and DJ Whitty as well as drag competition Quest For A Queen, hosted by Miss LSD.
