Australian Marriage Equality are hosting a free election campaign workshop this Sunday at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre.
“Marriage equality is a simple issue of fairness and equality. AME is holding a workshop in the electorate of Petrie so community members can get involved in the campaign, ask questions and share their stories on why marriage equality matters,” AME Queensland spokesperson Sharon Dane said.
“It is about members of our families, our friends, neighbours and workmates. It’s important that they have the same aspirations and opportunities in life as every Australian.”
The workshop in Redcliffe is part of the largest election campaign AME has ever undertaken, involving the group being active in more than 30 seats across every state in Australia.
The group has been holding similar workshops in cities and regional communities around the country over the last few months, including two others in Perth and Warragul this weekend.
As well as local communities, AME say they’ll continue to reach out to the LNP, Labor, Greens and Independents to win over MPs and candidates throughout the election campaign.
“Marriage equality is an issue that unites supporters and candidates across all major parties and we have a plan to ensure this election returns stronger support than ever,” Sharon said.
The Redcliffe marriage equality workshop will be held this Sunday June 12 at 2pm at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre (in the Shillam Room) on Downs Street in Redcliffe. RSVP to the event on Facebook or Eventbrite.
