Nash Theatre in New Farm is bringing Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy “Lady Windemere’s Fan” to Brisbane next month.
Set over a 24 hour period, Lady Windermere’s Fan is as relevant today as it was when first performed in London in 1892.
Juxtaposing high society and popular culture, the four-act play explores a world full of the desire for scandal and gossip; a world which rejoices in the outrage and indignation such scandal permits.
Witty dialogue and memorable characters abound. Secrets will be shared and confidences broken, but ultimately it is a story of great hope.
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars,” Oscar Wilde famously wrote in the play.
“Lady Windemere’s Fan” is on from July 15 to August 5 at Nash Theatre, in The Brunswick Room at Merthyr Road Uniting Church at 52 Merthyr Road, New Farm. For tickets and more information, visit the Nash Theatre website or call 3379 4775.
