‘The Office’ Australia: Is Magda Szubanski replacing David Brent?

Magda Szubanski The Office

We could be set for more Magda Szubanski on our screens as the Australian spin-off of The Office allegedly goes into production.

Rumours are swirling that the Kath & Kim star has been approached to feature.

And the role she’s being asked to fill is not what you’d expect.

Are we getting an Aussie version of The Office?

Let’s be honest, we’d all watch Magda Szubanski in just about anything, especially an Aussie reboot of The Office.

The out and proud Kath & Kim star has still been present in our lives since the show finished.

Most recently the outspoken personality took on the role of host on The Weakest Link reboot.

Meanwhile, her advocacy work continues to cement our love for her.

So with the news that Magda could return to our screens? We are ALL of the excitement.

The Herald Sun is reporting that an Aussie version of the UK and US cult classic The Office is going into production.

Previously both versions were led by Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell respectively who owned their roles brilliantly.

However our own Aussie spin-off is apparently set to explore the title role being played by a woman, why not?

Magda Szubanski as David Brent?

If the rumours are true Magda Szubanski is being tapped to take on the role.

Could anyone be more perfect? We think not.

With a comedy career that spans decades in Australia, Magda is the perfect contender for the role.

Magda is used to the single-camera format that Kath & Kim brought to our screens providing her with the perfect skills to land the role.

Could we see some of her other famous co-stars joining her?

While Magda isn’t confirmed yet, there are other big names in Australia apparently being approached for the show.

The Herald Sun also reports that major Aussie star Rachel Griffiths has been approached.

Wentworth star Katrina Milosevic and Isla Fisher have also apparently been approached for The Office, however are yet to sign on.

It’s the perfect format for some of our comedy legends.

Seeing other greats like Glen Robins and Peter Rowsthorn appear would be perfection.

While we await any official news, take a look at some more Magda Szubanski brilliance below.
