The producers of TV favourite Gogglebox are casting for two new households to join the show, and for the first time they’re looking for Queenslanders.

Currently in its ninth season, Gogglebox Australia features a diverse range of personalities from differing backgrounds and ages who provide hilarious, heartwarming and sometimes emotional commentary on some of the biggest TV moments of each week.

Currently, the Gogglebox cast is a 60/40 split of households from Melbourne and Sydney, and producers announced today they want to add two households from Brisbane or the Gold Coast to the show’s upcoming tenth season.

“We’re very excited to find Queensland personalities to put in the mix,” executive producer David McDonald said.

“When Gogglebox first started we were restricted in what we could accommodate with the fast turnaround of the show.

“Now in our fifth year of production, it’s time to expand, so it was decided – very wisely – to go north and capture the unique voice of the Queensland territory.”

If you and your household want to share your TV commentary with the country, you can apply for the show here.

The two new Brisbane households will join brother and sister Tim and Leanne; Greek friends Anastasia and Faye; married couple Lee and Keith; the Jackson Family; the Delpechitra Family; friends Adam and Symon; art dealers Mick and Di; the Dalton Family; married couple Matty and Sarah Marie and their friend Jad; and the three generations of women in the Silbery Family.

Two of Gogglebox’s breakout stars, gay couple Wayne and Tom, announced last year they were leaving the show after three years of cocktails on the couch.

“Tonight I start filming episode seven, and I think I have about three more left,” Tom said radio station JOY FM in October.

“I think we’re out of contract.

“I’ve had a lot of fun. And I think its just time. Me and Wayne are ready to retire. We’re ready to buy a farm and go bush.”
