Brisbane’s southside has a new LGBTQIA+ friendly vet practice: Total Care Family Veterinary Clinic.

The venture is run by Jenny Hsieh who has called Brisbane home since migrating from Taiwan with her family 25 years ago.

She set up the Holland Park practice to make it easiest for people she’s previously worked with at clinics in Highgate Hill and Mount Gravatt, while also supporting the immediate area.

Jenny’s approach to making visits uncomplicated for pet owners is central to how she works.

“I am the type of vet who focuses on low-stress interactions and close collaboration with owners to ensure the best care is provided to their pet,” she says.

Jenny also understands the close connection many people in the community have with their pets.

“Pets are their babies, their love and compassion towards their pets is what drives me to do what I do.”

Her clinic offers health checks, blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, medical care, preventative care, dental care, surgery, and vaccination.

If you’ve got a pet (or an owner) that is a little afraid of visiting the vet, Jenny has some advice.

“I am a big believer in social visits. My clinic fully encourages clients to bring their animals in just for pets and treats when possible to make pets feel that a vet clinic is a fun place and not a scary place where every visit they get poked and prodded. This process also allows us pet parents to have a piece of mind that their pets will be calmer at the clinic so we can be less stressed about the visit,” she says.

In her spare time, Jenny takes her fur son on outings to different cafes and she also enjoys baking, telling us she’s well known for her Swiss roll.

So if you want a social visit for your pet or need an appointment (or just a good Swiss roll) then head to Total Care Family Veterinary Clinic.
