Australia’s longest-running gay-owned and operated venue for cis and trans men, The Laird, hosts a big long weekend of fun this Easter.
When people think of the Laird, they often think of leathermen and burly bears, and whether they will fit in.
The pub in Abbotsford caters to a diverse array of community members, and they’ve already started their Easter weekend fun.
Wednesday night, the pub’s weekly trivia, Trivial Hirsute, hosted a Res-Erection special edition to ease people into the long weekend.
Things kick into gear on Thursday night with ALLIANCE, where their weekly kink and cruise night, Spit and Polish, heads to the dark side.
It’s a night where men of leather, rubber, gear, and uniform will spit, shine and do whatever else they get up to in dark spaces.

Cruisey beats and kinky looks
“ALLIANCE is always a great way to kick off the long weekend,” co-owner of The Laird, Brett Lasham, said.
“People put their best leather and rubber forward, and it’s great to plan an epic night for a Thursday.”
Tonight at The Laird, you’ll enjoy cruisey beats by GOAT SPOKESPERSON with Boot Blacks, Dylan and Sam will be on their knees set to shine.
Fetish demonstrations will be taking place around the venue by Laird Leatherman 2025, Sir Z, Daddy Schadenfreude and Mr TC with buzz cuts by A Clockwork Baber.
While the dress code of leather, rubber, sports and uniform is encouraged, going casual is fine.
The cloak room, run by Mr VicBear 2025 Billy, is raising funds for him to compete in Mr International Bear next month.
You can get your tickets for ALLIANCE here.

Come belt out a tune at SING STUD
Luckily, there’s a public holiday to recover after ALLIANCE, then Friday The Laird opens its doors for SING STUD: The ultimate blokeoke.
Hosted by Jonno, Friday night karaoke has become a fixture in the pub over the last few years, and this Friday it is set to go off.
“I still get blown away with how many people love SING STUD on a Friday night,” Lasham said.
“We have people who are staying upstairs in our accommodation who are already planning their songs. It’s good to provide an alternative to the entertainment we see at a lot of other venues in the area.”
Song registration starts from 7:30 pm, and the fun lasts until the bar closes.

Tom’s Hide Out raises funds for Laird Leatherman to get to IML
On Saturday night, The Lairds’ monthly leather night, Tom’s Hide Out, plans a special leather takeover.
Every cent made through ticket sales supports Switchboard, local charities, and grassroots scholarship initiatives.
This month, they are supporting Laird Leatherman 2025 BB’s travel fund.
He is representing Melbourne at the prestigious International Mr Leather (IML) contest in Chicago later this year.
“Getting this support from Tom’s Hide Out is amazing,” BB said, “I’m very grateful because travelling to IML is very expensive.”
“I’m really grateful for the community getting behind me in this way.
“It is also good motivation as I get ready to represent Melbourne and our amazing community at Chicago.”
“To see Tom’s Hide Out grow from strength to strength every month has been exciting. It’s great to have a monthly leather night like this, and it keeps evolving with a cigar area and more.”

“I also want to acknowledge all these amazing volunteers who are at every single event,” BB said.
“Not just the team behind it, the Brothers in Hyde, but all the volunteers and supporters who make this event possible every single month.”
Tom’s Hide Out is your invitation to gear up; it is not a dance party. It is a leather, social cruise.
Leather is encouraged, masculinity is celebrated, and kink is respected.

Sunday, a day of rest? Not for The Laird
The venue opens on Sunday with its doors open from 4 pm for Sunday Social.
With tunes pumping, the beer garden full of fellas and a BBQ, it’s the perfect way to unwind.
Monday night, hop into the hottest undies party in town.
Put on your best tighty whities and join a couple of hundred guys for a night of cruisey fun.
Frontal nudity is not allowed, but feel free to don a leather or rubber harness or vest, but no t-shirts or singlets.
The night features 2 bars, a dark room, a beer garden and upbeat tunes.
Which is the perfect way to kick off the month and wind down after the long weekend.
Cloak is included in the entry fee and provided by Down an’ Dirty/Thorne Harbour Health. Get your tickets here.
While The Laird has a legal exemption to be a binary space, the venue would like to remind everyone who comes through its doors that it is a haven, meeting place, and party space for same sex attracted cisgender and transgender males.
Transphobia has no place at The Laird, or anywhere.
It sounds like there’s plenty to keep you entertained over the Easter long weekend at The Laird.
