The Brisbane boys from the Briefs Factory!
The creative collective Briefs started in Brisbane but they’ve glitter-bombed the globe with their iconic and hilarious brand of circus, drag, burlesque, and comedy.
What do you get when you mix Cirque du Soleil with RuPaul’s Drag Race?
The Briefs boys haven’t performed at Brisbane Powerhouse since their sell-out performances in 2014.
“Briefs: The Second Coming”
They are back and they’re ready to explore the third dimension in their new show “Close Encounters”.
Expect all the shocks and thrills you remember from their previous shows – plus new tricks, glamour and frivolity to keep you on the edge of your seat.
With their trademark skill and humour, they test the limits of masculinity, taste and decency.
Expect interstellar aerials, incredible artistry and warped speed strippers from outer space.
The Briefs Factory create evocative physical performances paying homage to the traditions of circus, the extremities of physical theatre, the artistry of drag, the guts of burlesque, the imagery of theatre, the debauchery of speakeasies and the showmanship of cabaret.
They first began in 2008 in Brisbane.
They initially set out to create an informal space where professional performers could test out new late-night cabaret acts.
In 2010, they transitioned from the late night performance club to a performance ensemble when the company was engaged to create its first official full-length work.
Briefs: Close Encounters is at the Brisbane Powerhouse from May 4 to 7. Tickets are available from the Brisbane Powerhouse website. See some clips of the boys’ 2014 show “Briefs: The Second Coming” below:
