Tbar and Wendybird have announced they’ve joined forces to present all-inclusive, queer dance parties to unify and celebrate Brisbane’s queer community.

The aim of the events is to provide safer places for our queer family who are most marginalised (trans, queer, non-binary, femme, POC, people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mob and migrant and refugee folk) to dance, entertain and connect with one another in joyful ways.

Jaxxon Chilli has delivered the queer-positive TBar events across Brisbane since 2010 and he said he’s proud to collaborate with Wendybird on the exciting new merger.

“By working together, we can deliver even bigger TBar parties where profits raised are reinvested into the delivery of our Wendybird events, that support the mental health and wellbeing of our community,” TBar and Wendybird said.

“Our first event for 2019 is taking us Back to the 80’s, on Saturday 9th March at 8pm, downstairs at Sporties. Think fluro, big hair, denim, think all things 80s!

“Special guests include the cheeky burlesque beauties from The Bombshells and spoken word performer and queer advocate Shaun D’Souza, plus epic sets from DJ B(racket) and our fabulous host Mr. Punch McRagefist.”

To find out more about the TBar Back to the 80s party, visit the Facebook event here. Tickets to the 18+ event will be sold at the door: $15 Adult – $10 concession, cash only.

Wendybird is a Brisbane queer collective that meets every six weeks at the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre at 967 Brunswick St in New Farm. Find out more about their activities at the website.
