TAIPEI, Thousands of LGBT people have taken to the streets of Taiwan this month in the name of marriage equality.
This was to pressure the government to deliver on its promise to deliver marriage equality whilst amidst a heated debate over the civil laws should recognise marriage equality
The LGBT protesters attached 112 padlocks to the gates of the nation’s parliament – one for each elected lawmaker.
Each legislator sent a key and invited them to unlock their padlock at the rally to show their support.
The China Post reported that 21 legislators accepted the invitation.
