LGBTIQ Pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people. Also, LGBTIQ communities design Pride events to promote their self-affirmation, dignity and equal rights. In addition, the events increase the visibility of LGBTIQ communities, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance. Pride Festivals Cities around the world hold Pride events throughout the year. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements throughout the world. Pride festivals generally encompass a range of events, from serious commemorations to festive parades. Marches, rallies, fair days commemorations, community forums, dance parties, and festivals are all popular Pride events. Around the world, many Pride events generally occur during June to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising (or riots) In New York in June 1969. Australian Pride Calendar. In Brisbane, Brisbane Pride hold the annual Queens Ball in June. The Brisbane Pride Festival occurs in September each year. It includes a march down Brunswick Street from Fortitude Valley to New Farm Park. Following in New Farm Park, Brisbane Pride organises the Pride Fair Day. In 2017,  more than 10,000 LGBTIQ community members and allies  gathered for the annual Pride march. The event coloured inner city Brisbane in Rainbow colours. The event had added meaning that year because of same-sex marriage postal vote, conducted over that time. Other Pride events are scheduled throughout September. Other regional Pride celebrations occur in Cairns and Noosa. Tropical Fruits Inc organise events in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Sydney Pride occurs during June and Melbourne Pride in February. Events are held in Darwin in October.
