Now that the weather is warming up, the race is on to get your beach bod ready and one of the best ways to tone up in summer is swimming, so why not check out Brisbane’s very own gay swimming group Aqualicious?

Swimming workouts burn fat, trim inches and help you get stronger, fitter and healthier than ever. It’s also a completely no-impact sport that you can participate in at any age. And the fact that you can do it with a great group of supportive people makes it the perfect option!

Whether you love to compete, want to improve your fitness, or just want to swim socially, everyone has a place with Aqualicious which offers top level coaching for all levels. The group also frequently meets for dinner after sessions and is a great way to meet new people in the community.

But while this social element of the group is important, make no mistake, Aqualicious is a serious swimming squad. After being established in 2002, Aqualicious became an affiliated AUSSI Masters Swim Club (QAL) in 2003 and has won a number of state championships as well as enjoying great success at international LGBT swimming meets.

Aqualicious trains four times a week at Spring Hill’s Centenary Pool with members welcome to participate as much or as little as they like. The group trains 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays; 9:00 am-10:15 am on Saturdays; and 3:30 pm-4:45 pm on Sundays. The Sunday sessions are informal self-programmed sessions without a coach.

Aqualicious welcomes new swimmers of all abilities and encourages people thinking of joining the group to come along to a few sessions to try it out. The group meets on the pool deck outside the change rooms 10 minutes before the start of each session.

Top-quality coaches are present to provide direction and feedback, so there is a coaching fee.

Whether you are a member or a guest, the costs are the same.

A single session costs $15, and a 10-session pass is $115 ($105 concession including students). A 25-session pass is $240 ($227.50 concession including students). In addition to Aqualicious squad sessions, use the pass for group fitness programs at any facilities run by City Aquatics. Join with a friend and get concession rates.
