The MELT queer arts festival will return to Brisbane Powerhouse in January next year and artists are invited to submit their concerts, plays, cabarets, musicals, dance pieces and more to be included in the festival.
Applications are open until Friday 20 May 2016 and all information is available from the Powerhouse’s website. The 2017 MELT festival will begin on January 23, 2017.
“MELT 2016 was very successful and we look forward to hosting the now annual celebration of LGBTIQ culture at Brisbane Powerhouse again,” festival producer Adam Gardnir said.
“We’re also extending the MELT program to include three additional shows throughout the year, in addition to the festival, to make sure our LGBTIQ community has a year-round series to enjoy and reflect upon.”
In 2017 MELT will incorporate music, visual arts, film and performance of all varieties, alongside special gala events including MELT Picnic, MELT Beauty Pageant and the MELT Portrait Prize. The three new “MELT Presents” events will be held in April, August and November next year.
An information night for artists will be held on Tuesday May 10. For more information and to apply, visit the Brisbane Powerhouse’s MELT submissions page.
