Stallholder and performer spots open for Pride Adelaide’s Big Gay Night Markets

Pride Adelaide is on the hunt for stallholders and performers for a fab LGBTQIA+ event, their Big Gay Night Markets and Pride After Dark, spicing up winter in August.

The night will bring Adelaide’s LGBTQIA+ community together in one warm, loud, glowing space with live performances at the Adelaide Gaol.

Funded by the Visa Vibe Grants initiative, the event is one of many that reflect strong demand for better and more diverse nightlife experiences.

All grant recipients were chosen from a competitive national pool of applicants to help give Australians’ nightlife a sense of community. They include creative workshops in Canberra, Darwin, youth music nights and Swing Classes in Queensland.

‘Pride doesn’t have to hibernate in winter’

With a series of events, Pride Adelaide is set to activate the city’s night-time economy. Creating safe, affordable and welcoming spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community and wider public.

“Pride does not have to hibernate in winter,” Dave from Pride Adelaide told QNews. “Big Gay Night Markets is giving Adelaide a reason to rug up, come out and celebrate.”

“We wanted to create something affordable, welcoming and full of energy. With stalls, food, bars, drag, DJs, live musicians and entertainment across the night. The response has already been huge, with more than 40 stallholders registering in the first 48 hours, and we still have space for more.”

Spots are limited, so if you want to take part, you can get in touch with the team at Pride Adelaide here.

‘Reclaiming spaces and creating new memories’

“We’re close to locking in a headline performer who brings a different kind of magic to the program,” Dave said.

“That matters because this is not a one-lane Pride event, it is for the club kids, the market lovers, the live music fans, the foodies, the families, and anyone who wants a joyful night out with community at the centre.”

“A big part of Pride After Dark is about reclaiming spaces and creating new memories in places people may not expect to see Pride. We do that with care, but also with colour, music, performance, food, laughter and community.”

“With the support of Visa and Mainstreet Australia, Pride After Dark gives us the chance to build something new for Adelaide and fill winter with a lot more colour and joy!”

Sounds like a fab all-ages LGBTQIA+ event at the Adelaide Gaol is just what the doctor ordered to warm up winter.

Tickets for Big Gay Night Markets are $10, and free for kids under 12. Grab them here.

The Big Gay Night Markets will take place on Saturday, August 29, at Adelaide Gaol.
