Sportsman Hotel to induct first queens into new ‘Drag Hall of Fame’

The Sportsman Hotel will next week induct four distinguished drag queens into their new Queensland Drag Hall of Fame.

The Drag Hall of Fame will take pride of place in the Lounge Bar of the venue and the names of the first four queens to be immortalised in it. They’re selected by Sporties’ directors and management.

The names of the queens will be announced at a ceremony and show hosted by Candy Surprise at 10.30pm on Australia Day Eve on Wednesday, January 25.

“Four of the most traveled, fabulous and revered performers to ever tread the boards will have the honour of being inaugural members of the Queensland Drag Hall of Fame,” Sportsman Hotel owner Neil McLucas said.

“In future years, unless in exceptional circumstances, only one individual will be joining this class of performers per year.

“This is planned to be a tradition on Australia Day Eve. We hope you’ll join us for a fabulous celebration of both the past and future of drag in Queensland.”

The only question is, who will it be?

The Sportsman Hotel will be open until 5am on Australia Day Eve. The Queensland Drag Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 10:30pm and shows at midnight and 1:30am at 130 Leichhardt Street in Spring Hill, Brisbane.
