Sniffies just dropped its 2025 Year in Cruising for gays, bisexuals, queers and more, and the data-fueled desire results say Melbourne is the swallow capital of the world.
Who doesn’t love an end-of-year data dump?
And according to Sniffies, Melbourne has daddies, bears and swallowers, Sydney has jocks, and Perth and Brisbane aren’t all about size.
Sniffies isn’t a dating app; it is a cruising map, helping you connect with what you want, when you want it.
And it’s not just for the gays.
Dropping their 2025 Year in Cruising, Sniffies is sharing data on how people actually explored desire this year.
Cruising isn’t what it used to be; it’s better!
The results are anything but subtle
“The 2025 Sniffies Download proves people aren’t just fantasising; they’re getting out and doing something about it,” said Eli Martin, Sniffies Chief Marketing Officer.
“From lunch breaks to parks to groups, cruisers are turning curiosity into real-world experiences.”
“And while desire is universal, every city puts its own twist on cruising, creating local cultures that reflect what guys there are actually into.”
According to the numbers, Monday is the most popular day of the week to cruise, 1:00 PM is the most popular time of day, and parks are the most popular destination.
And Sniffies isn’t just for the gays, their data shows that a wide spectrum of sexual identity and curiosity like to cruise.
42.3% of this year’s cruisers identified as bisexual or bicurious, and 25% identified as straight or straight curious.
Its full breakdown of sexual expressions shows 32.1% are bisexual, 31.4 % are gay, 18.1% are straight curious, 10.2% bicurious, and 7.8% are straight.
More than 2.1 million cruisers attended over 200,000 groups via Sniffies, averaging more than 16,000 groups per month.
Groups are a way to host and organise some very fun times.
The most popular group type was pump and dump, with nearly 600,000 attendees, and San Francisco hosted both the largest group and the most groups overall.
How are we cruising around the world?
The city with the highest percentage of straight users was El Paso, Texas, and the city with the highest percentage of bi users was Palm Springs, California.
The most anonymous city in the US was San Antonio, Texas, and globally was São Paulo, Brazil.
Mexico City saw the biggest surge in cruisers during Pride this year.
As for the cities with the most confident cruisers, they were Las Vegas, New York City and São Paulo.
The horniest cities in the US were Atlanta, Las Vegas and San Francisco and globally were Havana, Johannesburg, and Cape Town.
Sniffies data shows that cruising culture isn’t just global, it’s deeply local.
Different cities develop their own sexual ecosystems, shaped by who shows up and how they like to connect.
In New York City, cruising skews toward dominant and flexible roles, with the highest concentrations of dom tops, tops, vers, and vers tops.
In Chicago, cruisers leaned toward bottoms, submissive bottoms, sides, passive tops, and vers bottoms, revealing a very different cruising dynamic.
Boston emerged as the discreet capital while Atlanta stood out as the clean-cut stronghold.
Los Angeles led as the bro hub, and Melbourne doubled as the bear den and daddy HQ.
Seattle ranked highest for the guy-next-door vibe, and Sydney claimed both curiosity capital and jock hub.
San Diego topped the list for femme expression, and Philadelphia emerged as the masc stronghold.

Certain cities stood out for their particular interests when it came to play.
London led in jockstrap lovers, New York City topped the list for mask enthusiasts and Providence, Rhoad Island showed the strongest interest in uniforms.
San Francisco was most into used underwear, and Melbourne is home to the highest percentage of swallowers.

Sniffies data desire breakdown shows that people were looking for some broad and highly specific preferences.
Most sought-after types were Discreet, Bro and Daddy.
Top kinks were Edging, Cum Play, BDSM, Facials and Exhibitionism.
And the top fetishes were Ass, Hard Cocks and Armpits.

The country with the largest (self-proclaimed) average endowment was the Philippines, with 8.33 inches.
The smallest (self-proclaimed) average endowment was Japan.
