Sheldon Riley soars at the Eurovision semi final

After months of meticulous planning and preparation Sheldon Riley has performed in the first Eurovision semi-final.

All eyes have been on the Australian singer as he took to the stage to represent us on the national stage.

But did he make the cut?

Warning, spoilers ahead.

Sheldon Riley delivers a powerful Eurovision performance

Early on Friday morning as most of Australia slept Sheldon Riley lived out his childhood dream.

As he ascended the Eurovision stage adorned in his diamond studded flowing white gown, he told his personal story through his song, Not The Same.

Delivering his trademark emotive and powerful performance Sheldon Riley was a standout at the 2nd semi finals in Turin.

Clearly the world agreed, later announcing that Sheldon will represent Australia at the Eurovision grand final this weekend.

The performance was a lifelong dream come true for Sheldon, originally from the Gold Coast.

He told Qnews ahead of his Eurovision: Australia Decides performance how determined he had been to make it to Eurovision.

“Everything from the very start of X-Factor to now has seen Eurovision very boldly plastered in the back of my mind from the very start,” he says.

The Eurovision Grand Final

After wowing with his performance Sheldon will now join the grand final performance this Sunday.

Joining him from the 2nd semi-final will be Belgium, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Poland,  Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Romania and Serbia.

They will be joined by qualifiers from the first semi final as well, including Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Ukraine, Moldova and the Netherlands will also join Ukraine.

The Eurovision finals will air at 5am Sunday morning on SBS.

Both semi-finals will be repeated on Friday and Saturday at 8:30pm with the final being repeated on Sunday at 7:30pm.
