Prince’s rock musical Purple Rain tells the story of a young musician on a steady rise to fame who is tormented by an abusive situation at home and must contend with a rival singer, a burgeoning romance and dissatisfaction amongst his own band.

Tied to the megahit album of the same name, the film was Prince’s cinematic debut and won an Academy Award for Best Original Score.

Palace Centro Cinemas will screen the film on Wednesday May 4 at 6:45 pm, with $1 from every ticket going to support Brisbane Youth Service, a non-profit organisation helping to fight youth homelessness and disadvantage in Brisbane.
