Pauline Hanson this, Pauline Hanson that. In a world where people like Hanson try to seek relevancy off the backs of trans people, let’s instead take a moment to platform and support the wonderful trans organisations doing the work.
For a very long time, but coming to a head recently after *those* “transgender insurgency” remarks, one red-headed politician has centred herself in the political conversations about trans folk.
And while it’s important to call out her misinformation, challenge transphobia and hold politicians to account, we also can’t let people like Hanson dominate the conversation.
Because outside of her sweeping statements and rage-bait, trans and gender diverse people and their allies continue to build vibrant communities, create life-changing resources, and support one another through advocacy, healthcare, education and connection.
That work deserves our tangible support. Donating (time, money, resources) to a trans-led organisation or community initiative is one meaningful way to do that.
Whether it’s helping someone access gender-affirming care, keeping community programmes running or funding advocacy that changes lives, every contribution counts.
So yes, keep calling out Hanson when she says something outrageous. Keep liking and sharing the posts. Keep having the conversations. But don’t let that be where your advocacy ends.
So go on, if you really want to p*ss off the likes of Hanson, help resource the trans organisations doing the work.
Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of Australian organisations you can support today:
ACON’s TransHub: Information created by trans people, for trans people
One of Australia’s most trusted resources for trans and gender diverse people, TransHub was created by ACON following extensive consultation with trans communities.
The platform provides information about social, legal and medical affirmation, alongside health advice, downloadable resources and practical guidance for allies, families and healthcare professionals.
Originally developed for New South Wales, TransHub expanded nationally in 2025, making its evidence-based resources accessible to trans and gender diverse people across Australia.
If you’re looking to support long-term community health, donating to ACON helps ensure initiatives like TransHub continue growing.

Transcend Australia: supports families every step of the way
Coming out isn’t just a journey for young people, it’s often a learning journey for families too.
That’s where Transcend Australia comes in.
The organisation supports families of trans, gender diverse and non-binary children and young people through counselling, peer support, education programs, telehealth services and community events.
Their work helps parents and carers better understand gender diversity while creating safer, more supportive homes for young trans Australians.

Sock Drawer Heroes: changing lives one gender-affirming product at a time
Sydney based Sock Drawer Heroes (SDH) is far more than a retail store.
Founded by partners Bec and Erin after struggling to find their own gender-affirming products in Australia, the trans and queer-owned business now provides binders, packers, tucking underwear and other gender expression products through its online store and Inner West shopfront.

For many trans Australians, receiving a binder or tucking underwear can be genuinely life-changing; however they aren’t always financially accessible.
SDH offer a Pay It Forward program, where donations directly fund free gender-affirming products for people who otherwise couldn’t afford them.

Trans Justice Project: Australia’s first trans-led, national campaigning organisation
Trans Justice Project is focused on building collective power to fight for freedom, justice and equality for trans and gender diverse people.
The organisation runs national campaigns, community organising, public education and rapid response advocacy, including mobilising large-scale actions against attacks on trans healthcare and rights.
Recent work has included national days of action, community training, research into anti-trans disinformation, and coordination of grassroots organising across states and territories.

Supporting better healthcare through AusPATH
The Australian Professional Association for Trans Health (AusPATH) works behind the scenes to improve gender-affirming healthcare by educating medical professionals, supporting research and advocating for evidence based policies.
Representing hundreds of clinicians and healthcare providers across Australia, AusPATH helps ensure trans people have better access to informed, affirming care now and into the future.
Donations help fund education, policy work and research that benefits the entire community.
Not In Our Name is showing visible allyship
Not In Our Name (NION) is a growing movement of cisgender women publicly standing alongside trans people and rejecting attempts to use women’s rights as a justification for discrimination.

The campaign calls on politicians and media to stop creating fear around trans communities and focus on the real violence and inequalities affecting all women and gender-diverse people.
They have created an open letter and are encouraging cisgender women to sign it and show their support for the trans community
Every act of support matters
Whether you donate $5 or $500, purchase a Pay It Forward binder, share a resource from TransHub or simply introduce someone to one of these organisations, every action helps strengthen Australia’s trans community.
These institutions are choosing hope, care, education and community.
And that’s something worth investing in.
