Drag reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race has scored eight Emmy nominations this year.
The nominations include Outstanding Competition Program and Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program, as well as nods for costumes, makeup and hairstyling. RuPaul is also nominated for Outstanding Host of a Reality Program.
“I want to thank the academy for honoring the entire cast and crew of RuPaul’s Drag Race, my family at World of Wonder, and our champions at [US network] VH1,” Ru said.
“It takes a village, people! Their creativity and dedication to telling the stories of our brave and talented queens never ceases to amaze, amuse and inspire.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race, which recently wrapped up its ninth season, is available in Australia on streaming service Stan.
Last year, RuPaul won his very first Emmy for Outstanding Host of a Reality or Reality Competition Program for Drag Race.
After the nomination, Ru wrote on Twitter: “I dedicate this Emmy nomination to outsiders everywhere. Brave souls who stick to their dreams and make the world a more colorful place.”
This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on September 17.
