It’s been 11 years since RuPaul’s Drag Race announced the prize for the winner had increased to $100,000 and now RuPaul has committed to more.

Today’s announcement revealed both an increase in the winner’s prize and a hefty sum for the runner up.

After all these years, it’s probably about time.

RuPaul increases the cash prize for season 14

Back in season 4, the cash prize for Drag Race had been increased to $100,000.

Since then it’s remained there and never increased.

However in recent years “Cash Tips” have started to replace main challenge prizes.

All-Stars seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race have notably given away over $50,000 extra each episode.

As the fourteenth season finally draws to a close RuPaul has announced the winner will now walk away with $150,000.

Adding icing to the cake the runner-up will now also pocket $50,000 as well, powered by Cash App, of course.

Who will walk away with the $150,000?

After 4 non-elimination episodes, there are just five queens remaining in season fourteen of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

And it’s an interesting collection of statistics.

Both Daya Betty and Bosco have already been eliminated from the competition in some capacity.

Daya Betty was originally eliminated in the second episode but was given a second chance by RuPaul, she has gone on to win one challenge.

On the other hand, Bosco was eliminated by RuPaul after the Rusical challenge but was saved by the golden chocolate bar twist.

Bosco has won a total of three challenges so far, the most wins out of the final five.

Discarding her almost elimination, she is technically the current front runner.

Angeria Paris VanMicheals and Lady Camden both run a close second in terms of the number of challenge wins achieved.

Both have managed to secure two wins each and neither has fallen into the bottom two, except for the fatal “everyone loses” Snatch Game episode.

Is Willow Pill the dark horse to win?

However, Willow Pill remains the dark horse to take home the crown.

Despite only racking up one win so far, Willow has consistently achieved top two or three in every single challenge, except for Snatch Game.

The endearing and loveable queen is arguably the fan favourite to take home the crown.

There are just three episodes remaining of season 14.

The queens will compete in one final challenge this week before we are treated to the reunion the following week followed by the live grand finale.

Rumours are swirling about what the format for the finale will be, we can’t wait to see!

In the meantime, lets relive the epic roasting of Ross Matthews below.
