Actress Ruby Rose and singer Jessica Origliasso have ended their relationship after nearly two years together.

The pair began dating in 2016 after Ruby directed and starred as Jess’ lover in The Veronicas’ music video for “On Your Side”.

But Ruby announced on her Twitter account that she and Jessica “parted ways a few months ago.”

“I’ve shared the past two years learning and sharing my life with an amazing human being. An experience for which I am very blessed,” she wrote.

“Breakups are always incredibly hard on the people involved but I can only be grateful for the experiences we shared.

“It’s with a heavy heart to share that Jess and I parted ways a few months ago.

“We still love each other very much and I will always support her and be her biggest advocate.”

Fans were sceptical about the timing of Ruby’s announcement, but the actress tweeted that it was not an April Fool’s Day prank and that she would never joke about “something so personal.”

Ruby and Brisbane-born Jess, one half of The Veronicas, have known each other for a decade, reportedly dating in 2008 before rekindling their romance on set two years ago.

“We’ve been friends for eight years. We just reconnected over doing this video. We sort of just fell in love. It’s pretty cute, honestly,” Jess said in 2016.

“We support each other in our careers and we support one another and be there. It made sense to be able to come out on that level because we want to be there in each other’s lives on a public level.”

But rumours of a split started circulating in December when Jess unfollowed Ruby on social media and Ruby deleted all of her Instagram photos of the two of them together.
