A straight traveller has posted a baffling review on website TripAdvisor, complaining that there were too many gay couples at the hotel he was staying out on the island of Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria is one of the most populated islands in the Canary Islands, and is a thriving European LGBTI tourist destination.
TripAdvisor user MooSmith21 started his four-star review, which has since been deleted but was screenshotted by Twitter user Lee Jones, by praising the “helpful” staff and the “brilliant” food at the hotel he and his girlfriend had booked on the island.
But he said he was “made to feel uncomfortable by the gays.”
“I was quite shocked at the amount of gay couples that were staying at the hotel,” he wrote.
“I’m not homophobic, however there was a definite feeling of them and us.
“And the gay couples outnumbered the straight couples by two to one at least.”

“The location of the hotel meant that we were able to get around with ese however in the immediate surrounding area there are gay bars, gay hotels, gay wrestling shows which wasn’t for me, and again made me feel very uncomfortable,” he complained.
He said one guy also sent a drink up to his room even though “had never spoken to him and my girlfriend was visible at all times.”
@LeeJnes but did he drink the free drink?

@LeeJnes where is this? Sounds like I need to book myself a few days there right now

“All in all a great trip but I wouldn’t stay in that resort again if returning,” the reviewer concluded.
Just give us a minute while we book our tickets to Gran Canaria…
