During the 2022 telecast of the BAFTAs Rebel Wilson and Emma Watson took a moment to hit back at recent comments by JK Rowling.

The controversial author has continued to make transphobic comments publicly in recent months.

Rebel Wilson and Emma Watson were here to remind her they aren’t having a bar of it.

Emma Watson: I’m here for ALL the witches

JK Rowling has released a series of controversial and harmful statements regarding the trans community in recent years.

Unfortunately, years later, she continues to do so.

Her comments have elicited responses from the cast of the Harry Potter movies in defence of the transgender community.

“Transgender women are women,” said the series star Daniel Radcliffe in 2020.

“Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations.”

“[They] have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.”

At the 2022 BAFTA awards, Emma Watson took a moment to have yet another subtle dig at the author.

As host Rebel Wilson introduced her to present an award she quipped.

“Here to present the next award is Emma Watson. She calls herself a feminist, but we all know she’s a witch.”

In a thinly veiled swipe, Emma responded “I’m here for ALL the witches.”

It wasn’t the first time the star had made public comments about the issue.

The Harry Potter actress made her opinion on JK Rowlings comments clear back in 2020.

“Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned,” she said.

Rebel Wilson: “I hope JK Rowling still approves”

Earlier in the evening, Rebel Wilson had set the tone making her own joke about the author.

During a segment, the host took a moment to address her recent weight loss.

After drawing a lot of attention for her new look the actress displayed an older photo of herself for the audience.

Noting the significant transformation many had said she had undergone she had something of her own to say.

“That was me two years ago and since then I’ve done quite a transformation, I hope JK Rowling still approves.”
