The hilariously naughty stage production “50 Shades! The Musical Parody” is in Brisbane for the first time.
The production is an unauthorised send-up of a certain erotic novel you might’ve heard of and it’s been seen by over 300,000 people worldwide since its off-Broadway premiere in New York in 2014.
Now the Brisbane Arts Theatre has brought the adults-only show to town until late August. In it, Anastasia Steele meets the debonair Christian Grey (pictured below, left) and he opens her mind to the nipple-twisting world of BDSM.
“We’ve really aimed for a party atmosphere when people are here,” director Nathan Parmenter explained.
“We’ve got a live band playing on stage, people enter the theatre and it’s really setting up a really cool, interactive vibe when people first enter.
“For people who haven’t read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ they can follow this show quite easily. For those that have read the book there are a lot of in-jokes in there for them as well.”
50 Shades: The Musical Parody is playing at the Brisbane Arts Theatre until August 28. For tickets and more information, visit their website or call 3369 2344.
