Queers, get your sneakers ready, because Rainbow Games 2026 is heading back to Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, from October 29 to November 1.
Aotearoa’s only community-led multi-sport festival created by and for rainbow communities and allies is back for its second edition.
And this time, it’s bigger.
More than 1,300 participants are expected to descend on Auckland from around the world for a weekend of sport, community and plenty of friendly competition.

The Rainbow Games program has thirteen sports. So there’s something for almost every kind of athlete.
Choose from badminton, basketball, football, functional fitness, kickball, indoor bowls, netball, running, swimming, ten-pin bowling, tennis, touch and volleyball.
Prefer something a little more relaxed?
The Get Active program also features options including yoga and Zumba.

Rainbow Games welcomes everyone from first-timers and social players to serious competitors.
You can register solo or as part of a team. And if you’re flying solo, there’s support available to help connect you with a team.
Come for the sport, stay for the community
The inaugural Rainbow Games clearly hit the mark.
A whopping 90% of surveyed participants said they would attend again, while 89% said they would recommend the event to someone else.
And 100% said Rainbow Games should become a permanent fixture.
Pacific Rainbow Games Chair Tux Hika says the event has quickly become an important opportunity for rainbow communities to connect through sport.
Whether you’re chasing a medal, trying something completely new or simply looking for your people, there’s a place for you.
