Tuesday September the 10th was NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY and the message is very similar. BELOW is a repeat of this important information.

Each year over 2,200 Australians take their own life.  Almost 600 of those people are from Queensland.  Young lesbian & gay people feature highly in these statistics.  Almost 40% of post operative trans people currently take their own life.

On Tuesday September 10th it is National Suicide Prevention Day.  But really, every day could be suicide prevention day with a little help from you.

You CAN make a difference!  If you are feeling sad, disconnected, stressed, worried, panicked, unworthy or similar then please speak to someone you trust or seek help of a doctor or close friend.  Beyond Blue has some excellent information on their website plus they link to and provide many services. They ask that we all simply talk to people who are feeling like they need a little help.

If you notice someone who seems stressed, just ask them ARE YOU OK?  Then listen to their true answer.  Encourage and support people who you think may feel isolated and disconnected. Encourage them to seek the help from a professional but importantly listen and be there when they need to talk again, even if by phone.  Help them find the resources they may need to understand why they are feeling this way.

Below is a list of contacts that will lead you to both information and help-lines.

Importantly if you are not coping and think you need help dial lifeline open 24/7 and just talk it through with someone.
