Style guru and former “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy” host Carson Kressley has been announced as a new contestant on Aussie reality TV freakshow “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”
On Sunday night, the 47-year-old was revealed by the show’s hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown as a new “intruder” joining the rest of the contestants at their South African campsite.
Carson said he had no idea what to expect and was “going in blind” to the Channel Ten show, which regularly puts its contestants through physical endurance challenges and stomach-turning “Tucker Trials”.
“[It] should be called ‘What Was I Thinking?’ Me, in the jungle?” he said.
“I tried not to watch too much of the show because if I watched it, I wouldn’t want to go.”

But he told told Fairfax Media ahead of his trip that even though he’ll miss his hair products but he’s more “rugged” and “adventurous” than viewers might think.
“People think I’m probably a prissy fashionista from New York but actually I am more rugged than that. I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania so I’ve seen and done some unpleasant things and that’s just farm life,” he said.
“So maybe I’ll be more rugged than they expect… or maybe I’ll just scream like a big girl or maybe both.”
Carson is good friends with local star Olivia Newton-John, and told Fairfax if he wins the show he’ll donate the prize money to her hospital, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.
“I can survive in the jungle for three weeks – there are people out there living with much worse in their real lives, so why not give it a shot and raise some money for them?” he said.
Carson’s entry to the camp, cocktail in hand, will be shown on Monday night’s episode of the reality show.
