As restrictions ease in Queensland live entertainment is returning, including the GC Laughs Festival. Kicking off this weekend it features Rhys Nicholson, Mel Buttle and Nath Valvo.

Across 6 days and featuring over 30 comedians the GC Laughs Festival is everything we need right now and more.

And even better? It has some of our favourite queer comedians.

There is nothing we need more right now than a good laugh and the GC Laughs Festival is set to deliver.

Kicking off this weekend the GC Laughs Festival marks 6 days of comedy with some of our favourite comedians.

The festival is returning again to HOTA on the Gold Coast, for its fourth year and it is bigger and better than ever.

Among a host of over 30 comedians, the lineup features queer icons Rhys Nicolson, Mel Buttle and Nath Valvo.

Nath Valvo

The adorable and energetic Nath Nalvo returns with his show ‘Back In the Habit’ on the 18th of March.

It’s been almost 10 years since Nath brought us Grindr: A Love Story, we can’t wait to see what he’s been up to during lockdown.

“Come witness this ex-high school drama captain in full flight.”

Mel Buttle

Mel Buttle is back again, but has she ever really left us?

Whilst battling through crisis after crisis it feels like Mel Buttle has been by our side.

Her hilariously accurate Tiktok videos of “Mum” have been going viral and alleviating our madness.

But let’s not forget her avid fascination with one Tony Pearen during her stint on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here recently.

Mel Buttle serves us Here If You Need on Saturday the 19th of March.

Rhys Nicholson

Just for dramatic effect, Rhys Nicholson is one of the last to perform at the festival.

The world has fallen in love with our iconic Drag Race Down Under judge and we can’t wait to see him on stage.

Aptly titled Rhys! Rhys! Rhys! his show will take place on Sunday the 20th of March.

Described as “awe-inspiring to watch” this is one not to miss.
