Pride Politics in the Pub: Brisbane Candidates April 29

Pride Politics in the Pub

With the 2022 Federal Election fast approaching, Pride Business Network invites Brisbane voters to Pride Politics in the Pub. Meet the major party candidates for the seat of Brisbane. Learn what they and their parties are offering the LGBTIQ+ communities this election.

The federal seat of Brisbane encompasses the most heavily LGBTIQ+ populated suburbs of Queensland.

During the faux election campaign already underway, LGBTIQ+ issues already feature strongly.

The recent defeat of the religious discrimination legislation and the roles played by the various political parties and individual members prompted widespread community discussion.

LGBTIQ+ issues are no doubt destined for frequent airing during the campaign proper. So, this is your chance to hear from the candidates themselves.

Pride Politics in the Pub: Trevor Evans, Madonna Jarrett and Stephen Bates

Pride Business Network thanks the Liberal’s Trevor Evans MP, Labor’s Madonna Jarrett and the Greens Stephen Bates for agreeing to participate in Pride Politics in the Pub.

Of course, politics can and does arouse strong passions. However, Pride Business Network recognises that and wants all candidates — as guests of the organisation — to enjoy the same opportunity to present their case for our votes. So, rather than a debate rehashing all the same old arguments, Pride Politics in the Pub will offer the candidates an opportunity to explain their party platform and personal commitment to the LGBTIQ+ communities.

Each of the candidates will talk for about 10 minutes.

Afterwards, guests will have the opportunity to speak with the candidates personally and raise personal concerns.

Pride Politics in the Pub takes place Friday, April 29 from 6 pm at the Brunswick Hotel, New Farm. Check out the Facebook Event Page for more details.
