Brisbane Pride Festival is here and as always, that means there is an amazing array of fabulous events on offer catering to our LGBT communities. Here are a few of the highlights of this year’s festival.
Pride Rally & March
Pride Festival’s biggest day of the year begins at 10:00am at the corner of Brunswick & Ann St, Fortitude Valley on Saturday 19 Sept where the community gathers to rally for equality before marching down Brunswick Street towards New Farm Park in a unifying sea of rainbow – a public symbol of our community’s strength.
Pride Fair Day
Held at New Farm Park, the Pride Fair Day is the biggest event on Pride Festival’s calendar. With two stages featuring local talent all day including Mr and Ms Pride competitions, Brisbane’s best DJs, and the ever popular pet parade. Market stalls are always a hit as is the Queer Beer Tent. The Fair Day runs 10:30am – 5:30pm, Sat 19 Sept.
Fair Day After Party
Featuring the legendary diva Marcia Hines, Velvet redefines cabaret as a disco inferno that shocks, surprises and scintillates at every turn. Get ready for an electrifying trip to a world of glamour and abandon, all in the company of show-stopping singers, dancer and acrobats. Velvet runs 16-26 Sept at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
Pride Does Eurovision
With more cheese than a Swiss fondue the Brisbane Lesbian & Gay Pride Choir present ‘Pride does Eurovision’. Performing some of your favourite Eurosongs, the Brisbane Pride Choir and Young Pride take to the stage with a cast of surprise guests (well one or two). Which song will you vote for? Are you ready to sing along with all the ABBA hits? Pride Does Eurovision will be held 7:30pm, 25 Sept at the QLD Multicultural Centre, 102 Main St, Kangaroo Point. $30, $25 concession.
