Hosted at Du Cane Brewery, Pride is heading north with a landmark Pride Party in Launceston this Saturday.

Marking a major moment for LGBTQIA+ visibility, celebration and connection in Northern Tasmania during TasPride.

The event is part of a growing push to ensure Pride isn’t confined to capital cities or single weekends, but is experienced across Tasmania.

Blending drag, live performance, visual art, music and immersive environments, the Pride Party positions itself as both a celebration and a statement: queer joy belongs everywhere.

“This is about making space,” said Leelyn Double Chin, producer and director of LLDC Entertainment.

“For too long, people in the north have had to miss out or travel to experience Pride. This event is about saying that queer people, queer artists and queer communities thrive here too.”

The appetite for Pride in the north is already clear, with early bird tickets selling out just four days after release.

‘This isn’t just a party, it’s visibility’

The event is a collaboration between Launceston drag icon Enya Arsenal and Leelyn Double Chin of LLDC Entertainment, bringing together deep local roots and bold contemporary queer programming.

Both are well-known for creating inclusive, high-impact events that centre LGBTQIA+ voices and experiences.

The Pride Party is proudly supported by local queer events Mood and Sanctuary, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening LGBTQIA+ culture in Northern Tasmania.

Organisers say the collaboration reflects the power of community-led events working together, rather than competing for limited resources.

Importantly, the event prioritises local LGBTQIA+ performers and artists, ensuring Pride investment stays within the community it represents.

The Pride Party is community-run and not-for-profit, with any surplus directed back into future grassroots queer arts and cultural projects in the region.

“This isn’t just a party, it’s visibility, it’s safety, it’s connection,” Pride party producer Enya Arsenal said.

“For someone attending their first Pride event, or for someone who’s lived here their whole life and never seen themselves reflected, this matters.”

As Pride continues to evolve beyond metro centres, the Launceston Pride Party stands as a powerful reminder that regional queer communities don’t just exist, they flourish.

Pride Party takes place on Saturday, February 21, at Du Cane Brewery in Launceston.
