Organisers of the Gold Coast Pride Festival are rescheduling their Pride March and Fair Day for the coming months after it was sadly postponed at the weekend.

The pride festival on Queensland’s Gold Coast was held for the first time in May last year. Locals wore rainbow colours for the beach Pride March at Surfers Paradise, before a later Fair Day event in the park.

The two events were to return at the weekend (March 26), but the devastated organisers sadly had to cancel due to a forecast of dangerous weather.

“We’ve received advice from stakeholders that the risk is just too high,” organisers Vince Siciliani and Danni Zuvela explained.

“It’s heartbreaking but we have to put safety first.

“Not only were we really looking forward to it but we know so many of you were too.

“We know a lot of people had already put a lot of work into their market stalls, and costumes and dance routines for the march. We are so sorry.”

Organisers Vince and Danni explained they’re now working to reschedule both events for the coming months.

“We are looking at rescheduling in the first week of Pride Month in June,” they said.

“We will be in touch as soon as we have that new date locked in.”
