Piss Be With You: Cleo Rapture’s sapphic sermon you didn’t know you needed

Piss Be With You might just be the sapphic sermon and spiritual awakening you didn’t know you needed.

From February 23–27, Sydney performance powerhouse Cleo Rapture is blessing (and lightly dousing) Qtopia’s Substation with her award-winning comedy burlesque spectacular. A show that blurs the line between worship, wetness and queer release.

Written and performed by Cleo herself, Piss Be With You is a parody of a spiritual service, filtered through pole dance, striptease, EDM beats and choral chants, obviously. It’s part comedy, part burlesque, part immersive group therapy session, and in her own words “a PUNANI TSUNAMI”

A queer comedy baptism

Raised in a catholic context, Cleo loved the ritualistic elements and the strong sense of purpose that came from being part of that community.

“When I grew up and moved away from the church, I found the same reverence [when] I began pole dancing, but in a more feminist way,” Cleo told QNews. “I actually started comedy before dancing, but I’ve found that audiences respond to a 6900 horsepower hyperglam human showing some vulnerability.”

That balance between both “humour and humanity,” paired with her formidable physicality is used to unpack modern queer love, desire, shame and the messiness of wanting connection in a city that promises abundance but often delivers emotional dehydration.

“I created ‘Piss’ after years of feeling both tight in the pants, and heavy in the heart, as a queer woman,” Cleo says. “Each time I share it, I feel a communal unclenching and release with the audience.”

That release comes via pole setups, acrobatic “piss” body shots, a euphoric audience raindance and storytelling that oscillates between hilarious filth and genuine tenderness. The result? Something intimate, ridiculous and strangely healing.

A reverend of the Sydney nightlife

Cleo Rapture is no stranger to commanding a room. A fixture of Sydney nightlife, she’s the resident MC at Junipero on Oxford Street, regularly headlines at cabarets, and famously pole danced live in the 2024 and 2025 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parades.

After sell out runs across Sydney and Newcastle, Piss Be With You won Best in Genre – Interactive & Immersive at Sydney Fringe.

ARTShub crowned her “a lesbian Jesus,” while CityHub praised the show as “embodied liberation, with a slut drop to release all negative energy.”

Come as you are. Leave wetter.

Piss Be With You is a joyful, irreverent invitation to gather, laugh, unclench and maybe question everything you were taught about decorum. It’s for queer folks, women, allies and anyone ready to be baptised in comedy, community and a little bit of chaos.

May piss be with you. And with your spirit.
