Organisers have hailed Noosa’s inaugural Rainbow River Festival as a success.
The new weekend event launched on March 19, with cocktails at the Noosa Yacht Club as the sun set over the stunning Noosa River.
Local drag star Melony Brests said she could easily see the festival become a Noosa tradition.
“It’s been a huge weekend and an awesome Noosa Rainbow River Festival. The festival is already planning its return next year,” Melony said.
“It’s great to finally have some community events up here as the Sunshine Coast is quite fragmented.
“I’m so impressed with the support from the community. Everyone came out for the weekend including families and fur babies.”
On Sunday a brunch picnic on the Noosa riverside was held before the main event, the River Parade. Partygoers hired boats or brought their own to join the festival’s official Rainbow Party boat for a two-hour ride up and down the scenic Noosa River and its canals.
“It was so good to see everyone’s rainbow boats parading up the river. I was even propped up on the roof as a pink mermaid!” Melony said.
