Petition launched to bring Yungblud’s Bludfest to Tasmania in 2027

Yungblud is bringing Bludfest to Australia

British rockstar Yungblud is planning to bring his own alternative music festival Bludfest to Australia next year, and one state really, really wants to host it.

The singer performed across Australia on a sold out IDOLS Tour in January. While onstage in Melbourne, Yungblud confirmed he wants to bring his fledgling festival Bludfest to Australia very soon as well.

Yungblud started Bludfest in 2024 as an affordable and inclusive alternative to mainstream music festivals. For two years the event has drawn huge crowds to Milton Keynes over in the UK. The third edition of the event is in the Czech Republic this June.

“My goal is to bring Bludfest to Australia in 2027,” Yungblud told triple j back in January.

“I think it’s been such an amazing ride with Bludfest. It’s almost a ‘build it and they will come’ moment.

“I noticed a lot of people are kind of really pissed off with the amount of money they’re being charged for festivals and concerts, especially in Australia.

“So I can confirm my next ventures for Bludfest are the States, Japan and Australia.”

Tasmanian politicians wants his state to host Bludfest 2027

A Tasmanian councillor in northern Tasmania has written to the rocker himself and launched a petition calling for his state to get the 2027 event.

Ben Dudman is a councillor in Meander Valley in northern Tasmania. He says Bludfest is “an amazing opportunity to bring music to the masses.”

“It promotes music as it should be, affordable and accessible to everyone, sharing good times with others in our music-loving community,” he writes in the petition.

“As a regional state, we know what it’s like to be overlooked by touring artists. Yet we offer so much.

“Our home state is ideal for touring and travelling. As a previous visitor to Tasmania, we know you are aware of what we have to offer.

“Tasmania can handle large acts and their supporters coming to visit and enjoy great, live performances in our state. We can definitely accommodate Bludfest and make it a festival to remember.”

Ben Dudman told QNews he wants “all Australians to have the opportunity to experience a great, live event in a regional community.”

“If you don’t ask, you don’t get… It’s time to put Tassie on the map,” he said.

“I hope the broader Australian community will get behind as we prepare to welcome such a well-loved and talented artist back to our shores with his iconic festival.”
