Hi-Chat is a free 24-hour service moderated by peer volunteers in the Harm Reduction Community. Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, the online forum launches its first Chatroom Takeover. During takeovers, healthcare professionals and peers facilitate discussions around specific topics.
Register anonymously
The International Overdose Awareness Day chatroom takeover happens from 1 pm until 3 pm today.
Anyone wanting to drop in for a chat just needs to register with an email address. Chatters can use a real email address but a fake one will work just as well for those who wish to remain anonymous. Your safety is important.
Hi-Chat is a safe, diverse and inclusive online community for people who use drugs. It’s a friendly, judgement-free space with a focus on health and wellbeing.
Hi-Chat open 24/7
Hi-Chat is open 24/7. But Mondays to Thursdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Hi-Staff join the room to moderate and enjoy a bit of a yack. The Hi-Staff comprise of Peer Workers from QuIVAA and also Harm Reduction Workers from QuIHN.
With personal experience of drug use as well as physical and mental health issues, Hi-Peers are down to chat about drug issues. But they’re also happy just to chat — about nearly anything in this crazy thing called life.
Rather than judgement and stigma, Hi-Chat offers support and harm reduction education. Chat anonymously about anything – with peers.
Talk about:
Alcohol and other drugs
Drugs and your health (mental and physical)
Combinations and effects
Harm Reduction Tips
Support with reduction, quitting, cravings and relapse
Support, education and treatment options around BBVs such as Hep C
Or anything else at all.
Hi-Chat is the chatroom of Hi-Ground, a project of QuIVAA and QuIHN, providing a variety of health services to people who use substances illicitly in Queensland.
Women & Femmes chatroom sesh!
Coming up, Hi-Chat offers a regular women and femmes chatroom sesh. These sessions run for 8 weeks from August – September as a part of the Investing in Queensland Women’s funding to develop relevant and useful harm reduction resources for Queenslanders!
So, jump online today and join Hi-Chat for the chatroom takeover. On International Overdose Awareness Day, let’s End Overdose.
