Orange is the New Black star Yael Stone will star in SBS’ upcoming crime drama “Deep Water”.
The series will be a four-part drama series inspired by the real-life gay hate crime epidemic in Sydney in the 80s and 90s and remains unsolved today.
Yael and Noah Taylor will play detectives who are assigned to a brutal murder case and uncover evidence to suggest the killing is connected to a spate of unexplained deaths, “suicides” and disappearances throughout the 80s and 90s.
“It’s this unfurling police drama that reveals much deeper, much darker and somewhat terrifying elements that have been left unchecked,” Yael told News Corp.
“It’s this incredible story of what happens when we suppress an ugly truth. It’s pretty intimidating, but I think this is a story that needs to be told.”
The series, set to screen on SBS in October, will also be accompanied by a feature-length documentary into the cases.
